Craig Brown and his family came to Vancouver in
March of 1992. Before becoming our pulpit preacher,
he worked for eight years as youth minister with Eastside Church of Christ in Colorado Springs, CO.
Craig grew up in southern, CA and completed his B.A. and M.Div. at Pepperdine University. He is a
certified Challenge Course facilitator who works with groups on Camp Yamhill's course at every
opportunity. He also leads challenge courses from time to time for Evergreen School District.
Craig has served as a high school umpire during spring baseball season. He
used to be active in the county-wide chaplaincy program, but is not working with them at this time.
He is a member of Clark County Counsel for the Homeless, where he hopes to help connect programs
for the homeless with faith communities.
Craig and Mara were married in 1981. They have three children: Joel, Mark, and Joy. Mara is a
full-time homemaker, wife, mom and daughter. Craig and Mara have lived with her father following
the death of her mother. She feels called by God to work with the very young and the very old and
has blessed the church enormously in her dedication to the nursery.
Craig's dream for the Vancouver Church of Christ is that all its members will grow daily in their
relationships with God, in their relationships with other believers and in their relationships with
those outside the kingdom of God. He also dreams that the church will continue to develop itself
as a good neighbor, ultimately sharing the good news of Jesus here in Clark County.

Bonnie Miller has worked as the
secretary/office manager for Vancouver Church of Christ since 1983.
Bonnie received her A.A. from Columbia Christian College in 1967 and a B.A. in journalism from
Pepperdine College in 1969. In 2001, she received a Master's in ministry from Pepperdine University.
Bonnie is the mother of two children. Her son K.C. graduated from Cascade College and is currently
employed by Nike in Beaverton, OR. Her daughter Chelan, also a graduate of Cascade College, is
married to Aaron Metcalf, a preacher in the Portland area. Chelan and Aaron have two children.
Bonnie enjoys doing all kinds of crafts and collecting Precious Moments. She also likes to go "tombstoning" (researching data on our early Christian pioneers). She recently had a book published on the history of Women missionaries in Japan entitled Messengers of the Risen Son in the Land of the Rising Sun. |
Ron Roberts has served as our outreach minister since January 1999. He and his wife Joanne moved
to Vancouver in 1989 after working with a church planting ministry in Santiago, Chile, for seven
years. Ron studied at Bear Valley School of Biblical Studies and did extension work at Abilene
Christian University.
Ron and Joanne married in 1969. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Juneau, Alaska,
where they both turned their lives over to Christ.
The Roberts have five sons and five grandchildren. They enjoy hiking together and have plans to
hike every trail in the area. Ron also enjoys reading about history and archeology and he loves
to garden.
Ron's vision for the church in Vancouver is that each member of the congregation will identify
his or her gifts and will find a place to minister within the kingdom of God. |
Tim Sibley started working as youth minister for the Vancouver
Church of Christ in April '05. Prior to moving here, he served as youth minister in CA for 4 years.
Tim graduated from Cascade College in 2001 with a degree in Bible and ministry. He married Kristy
in 2004. They work together with the AWARE program, going into public schools to teach classes on
the benefits of abstinence.
Tim loves playing and watching sports, keeping busy with the teens at church. He's also a movie
enthusiast. Be sure to ask him about his little girl!
Tim's dream for the church and youth group are essentially the same— that the teens and church
can recognize their spiritual gifts and use them in God's kingdom. He also prays that we will
truly be a community-impacting church, leaving a good impression on people of all ages in the
Vancouver and greater Portland area. |
