DOCTRINAL BELIEFS

  • We believe in God, the father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

  • We believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord.

  • We believe he was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary.

  • We believe he suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

  • We believe he rose again on the third day.

  • We believe he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father, and that he will come again to judge the living and the dead.

  • We believe in the Holy Spirit, the universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

The above is known as the “Apostles’ Creed” which all VanChurch staff is required to confess.  In addition, we hold the following doctrinal beliefs:

  • We believe salvation is possible only through the gracious work of God in his son Jesus.

  • We believe people respond to God’s gift of grace by putting their trust in Jesus, by turning away from sin, and by being immersed into Christ.

  • We believe the power to transform people into the likeness of Jesus is the work of the Holy Spirit.

  • We believe God reveals this good news through the Bible, which is inerrant in its purpose of revealing who Jesus is.  Jesus is the living word of God.
